Our 5th graders have been working hard at finding patterns in our Solar System. Using the simulations in Amplify, they have been able to observe the sun, stars, and Earth from outer space and detect patterns in their investigations. We have also explored these patterns using physical models. For example, they experimented with "brightness" of the stars by observing flashlights in the darkness and outside in the sunlight. Our scholars also experimented with the rotation of Earth using the "Mount Nose" model. In essence, they pretended their heads were "Earth" and their noses ("Mount Nose") were a place on Earth from which they could see the sun (one of our scholars) go into view and out of view as they spun around. Pictures will be coming soon of our scholars hard at work!
