1st Grade Trip to the Santa Ana Zoo
On February 1st, first grade Scholars went on a wonderful animal adventure to the Santa Ana Zoo. This trip was planned by the first grade team to answer their PBL question, "What are the conditions within a habitat that are beneficial for living things and those that are not good for living things?" Individually, students formulated and wrote a Habitat Report in which they introduced their chosen zoo animal, shared their opinion for the best habitat, and supplied reasons that supported the opinion, and provided a concluding statement or section. The adventure began with a live animal spotlight followed by an exploration of the zoo on a self-guided tour. In various sections of the zoo, our Scholars interacted with education volunteers to learn about the specific adaptations for animals they observe.
